Samadhi, or the greatest condition a human being may reach, is the ultimate aim of all yoga practises. To arrive to this point, Patanjali laid forth eight limbs, one of which is meditation. Dhyana is a type of meditation in which the mind is continually focused on the object of meditation.

Meditation starts, according to the Yoga Sutras, when the process of removing the senses from the outside world is complete (Pratyahara). Dharana, or concentrating our attention on a specific object, is the next stage. Sage Patanjali suggests a variety of ‘meditation objects’ that a yoga practitioner can choose from, he emphasises to meditation on Ishvara or God out of numerous possibilities.

Meditation comes naturally to you. The experience of meditation differs depending on one’s degree of perception. It’s a voyage of self-discovery, self-awareness, and breath synchronisation.

When a yogi overcomes their senses and wants, they turn their concentration within.
