Yoga Postures

Learn about different yoga postures and how to teach them, as well as the advantages of each pose, adjustments, cautions, and the usage of props.

  • Pose in a standing position.
  • Forward bends, hip openers, and sitting postures
  • Twists in the sitting/supine position.
  • Postures that involve back bends.
  • Inversions.
  • Arms balance.
  • Poses that are restorative

Shatkarma: (Cleaning Techniques): These yogic cleansing activities will be incorporated into the everyday morning routine and will complement the yoga practice. These will help to cleanse your nervous system and allow your breath to flow freely within the body. In our yoga retreat rishikesh, we cleanse the body by eliminating toxins from it.

Adjustments: Discover how to adjust these yoga postures and how they can help you improve your yoga technique.

Pranayama: (Breathing Practices): These are focused on classic yogic breathing techniques that will help you to elongate your breath and improve your yoga practice. How to introduce breathing into your teachings and postures. How breathing can help the body.

Yogic Mudras: (Energy Seals): Brings in energy to energize different regions of the body.

Meditation: You will learn a variety of meditation techniques to assist you improve your attention and concentration in your everyday practise. Om Chanting, Chakra, and Candlelight Meditation are some of the techniques used.

Chanting: A variety of positive frequency mantras will be taught such as Maha-mritum-jay Mantra and many more. To create an inner peace and stability of a yogi.

The Physiology and Anatomy of Yogic Practices

This course covers the major topics and systems of anatomy relevant to yoga such as: Skeletal System, Brain & Nervous System, Respiratory System, Digestive System, Cardiovascular System, Effects of Kriya, Pranayama, Asanas, and Meditation.

The Philosophy of Yoga

It will introduce you to the basics of philosophy, concepts, and history of yoga as well as insights from modern research and ways of incorporating the essence of this holistic life-view into modern living.

Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra (Preface): Discover how Patanjali describes how to make a connection among body, mind, and spirit in this useful text based on the 8 limbs of Ashtanga Yoga.

  • Meditation and Mantra Chanting – Meditation and Mantra chanting is the way to calm the monkey-mind and teach it to focus on what is important. Aligning your body with your soul – This teaches you being in the present moment and being mindful of what’s important to you and also leads you on the journey to find ‘You’ and find your state of permanent bliss even amidst chaos.
  • Study of Asana and Mudras – These are the hand gestures done while breathing practice to guide the energy in and through your body and helps it reach the brain to make you function to your fullest. The course included knowledge on Jnana, Dhyan, Vishnu and Hridaya Mudra. Mudras also help balance energy of our seven chakras.
  • Shatkriya or Shatkarma (Internal body-cleansing) – ‘Shat’ meaning six. Yes, this technique is a combination of six techniques to help cleanse and detoxify your body and helps get rid of diseases that we never understand the source of. Our body becomes what we feed it and most of the times we don’t feed it with nature’s goodness and end up with a body filled with toxins and impurities leading to health problems. The techniques include – Neti for the nasal passage, Dhauti for the digestive tract, Basti is for intestines, Nauli for abdomen health, Kapalbhati cleansing of frontal lobes and Trataka for eyes.
  • Ayurveda – Where your food becomes your medicine! Teaching basic principles of Ayurveda along with the three doshas – Vatta, Pitta, Kapha – learn how to balance them, understanding the Trigunas to create the balanced diet that particularly is unique to your body and helps you maintain the best of your physical and mental health.
  • Teaching Methodology and Home Assignments: This subject is all about giving structure to all the learning and reaching perfection through ‘abhyas’ (meaning practice).
